Dengue fever, spread by Aedes mosquitoes, poses a serious health risk, especially in densely populated
urban areas. Many people are unaware that unclean surroundings and stagnant water are breeding
grounds for mosquitoes, and dengue is a disease with no specific treatment. To prevent this, it is
important to keep our surroundings clean at all times. Sanskaran Foundation, in collaboration with the
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), organized a campaign to prevent Aedes mosquito breeding,
raise community awareness, and reduce the risk of dengue infection.
Dengue & Aedes Mosquito Prevention Campaign was conducted over 10 days in 2021 in Mirpur Ward
13, Dhaka. Sanskaran Foundation volunteers worked alongside DNCC cleaners and mosquito control
teams to inspect residential and construction sites, identify and remove stagnant water and waste, assist
in large-scale cleaning operations, and raise awareness through community engagement and miking.
DNCC Executive Magistrates also participated, inspecting the area and imposing fines where larva
were found. The campaign concluded with a public awareness rally, emphasizing collective
responsibility in dengue prevention.
